May 11. 1887.  When I received your welcome letter I had no idea it would be a small age before I would answer.  I have been out of paper for sometime.  Ed can never remember to get me little things I want and he goes to town almost every day.  Yesterday he actually remembered and brought me some, so I must write to Mrs. Kinney too this afternoon.  Tuesday I heard from her in regard to Badgers affair and she asked me to find out from Big Elk if he wished to assume a debt.  I will have to send word to him.
