Washington June, 27, 1889. Miss Alice C. Fletcher. U.S. Special Agent Ft. Lapwai, Idaho. Dear Madam, I write you, not that I have any news to tell you. Though I have some hopes of success, though not to say, anything positive. I have met both the Hon. Secretary and the Hon. Commissioner Indian Affairs, but have not yet met the President. To-morrow is the "Cabinet day" (Friday) and the matter will be lead before the President by the Secretary with what recomandations, I cannot tell, But one thing I do know, that Commissioner Indian Affairs has already recommanded to the Hon. Sect. of Interior, that Montieth [[underlined]] should not stay there, [[/underlined]] and submitted all the papers with this recommandations
