At Home Aug. 12 1889.

Miss Alice C. Fletcher
Cold Springs Idaho.

Dear Madam

I send to you the "note" from Miss Kate McBeth which I forgot myself when I went to meet you where you are now And also send the history of the Nez Perce war written by General Howard.

I have nothing new to tell you but I suppose you do not care about things you heard before, and will not repeat them to you.

I will start to the mountain this week and on my return hope to find you alive and with your scalp on, not to be taken by Indians but by whites.

You know my heart and hope that I have not deceived you already, though I have tried to be as true to you as I have been with other friends.

You will study about my land question (you know what I mean) If you succeed in getting help for me I am ready. I hope it will come out alright.

Yours sincerely
