Dear friend:-
Tonight I am going to write to you and tell you how I am getting along.  I am very well and the children are all well too. But my wife is not very well.  Some days she feels quite well and then again she does not.  My oldest son is coming home from Philadelphia this summer, and I wanted him to go to school again, but I wanted you to tell me where you think it would be best for him to go.
I am going to tell you something now because there is no news.  The Omahas are not divided any more - they are all united now - they are against one thing.  They are after Mr. Chase and Hallowell.  They have been having a council for two days and with Mr. Ashley. They are going to set aside $4,000 for the half-breed question and then they are going to pay the rest out to the tribe.
