us I shall feel very sad over it.
I wish you would try hard to help us and get your friends to try too. I think that they will set aside $5,000. The half-breeds from Nemaha County all want to come up too. Today they, one of the two of whom I spoke, spoke against Wajapa. There a good many of them and they have picked out some of the best of the land so if they beat us they will have all that good land. If the half-breeds beat us then we the full blooded Indians will be the same as nothing. Then too in the other tribes, the half-breeds will treat the Indians as they have treated us here.
All the Omahas signed their names to set aside this money, if the half-breeds should beat us, some of the money is to go to pay our lawyers. Simon Hallowell, Harry Lyon, Nebraska, [[Insthathabi]], Arthur Mitchell -- these are Chase's friends and Gilbert Morris too. This is all. I hope they won't beat us.
Your friend
