My dear Miss Fletcher:
My good friend Linderfelt, of the Milwaukee Public Library, has just procured for me Vol. I of the "Journal of American Ethnology & Archaeology" containing the Zuni melodies phonographed by Fawkes & done into musical notation by Gilman. You can imagine how much they have interested me.  If you ever had any fear that his work would forestall or eclipse ours, you may dismiss it.  I send you a specimen.  He has represented [[underline]] all [[/underline]] tones not belonging to the C scale by [[underline]] sharps [[/underline]], regardless of tonality.
