the sake of the best interests of the Indian which he is trying so hard to advance - and for our sakes too.

I do not know how much longer the dear friends Miss Fletcher and Miss Gay will be near to comfort us (for their presence on the Reserve is such a comfort even though we do not see them). I expected them to spend much of the summer in Mt. Idaho writing - But perhaps I misunderstood. No one seems to know when Miss Fletcher will be through with her work of allotting - But I know she will not leave withoug seeing me. She & Miss Gay too - you know doubtless that little Peter Rankin is dead. Joel & Jane were here last week - grieving - yet comfortable in the thought that Peter and her mother were so happy together. Joels health is still improving. You doubtless hear from Kamiah often.

Write to me as often as you can dear friend. Your letters always do me good. Please remember me in love to Miss Gay - Every day Our Father hears your name - from a little home among the Idaho Mts - May He comfort and guide & bless you always dear friend prays

Lovingly Yours
S. L. McBeth
