Miss Alice Fletcher,
Fort Lapwai Indian Reservation,
Lewiston, Id.

Dear Madam: I have been authorized by the Commissioner of Indian Affairs to ask the cooperation of superintendents of Indian schools in collecting measurements of school children. Wherever possible I prefer to have the measurements taken by outside observers and have them repeated after an interval of half a year and a year by the superintendent. Will you kindly let me know whether you included in your measurements the children at the Fort Lapwai ^ [[and]] Nez Perce Boarding Schools. If not^[[,]] I intend to write the Superintendent. I shall be greatly obliged if you will kindly send me such record blanks as you may have filled. So far as possible I desire to keep track of the results obtained, as these sometimes make it desirable to extend these investigations in certain directions.

Yours very truly
