JOHN C. FILLMORE, DIRECTOR.

Milwaukee, Wis., ^[[April 18]] 189^[[3.]]

Dear Miss Fletcher:

I learn that Mr [[Krihbil?]], of the N. Y. Tribune,
is to present a paper on Indian Liturgies at the M.T.N.A. "Auxiliary" meeting in Chicago. He means to have Indian illustration, if possible. The delay of the [[underline]]Century[[/underline]] has forced us to be inactive & has allowed him to get ahead of us. It is as unjust as possible. Now, I wish to publish my paper on Russian Music in [[underline]]Music[[/underline]], as soon as possible. It has one or two Indian songs for purposes of comparison. Have you any objection? If there is opportunity for discussion of K.'s paper, I mean to have a finger in the pie. I don't wish to "get left" by reason of the stupid editing of The [[underline]] Century [[/underline]]. Please let me know [[underline]] at once [[/underline]], if you object. If I don't hear from you [[underline]] soon [[/underline]], I shall send my paper to Matthews.

When will The Monograph be out?

My regards to both you & Francis. I hope you are both improving in health.

Yours cordially,
J.C. Fillmore.

P.S. Couldn't [[underline]] you [[/underline]] take a hand in The M.T.N.A. discussion?
