JOHN C. FILLMORE, DIRECTOR.

My dear Miss Fletcher:---I enclose a clipping from the N.Y.Tribune of May 15th, wich will show what Krehbiel is up to.Please return it to me; I wish to keep it.---As I have heard nothing more from either you or mathews, I do not know the present status of the Chicago engagements. Root has written me that the Folk-lore affair to wich he invited me to contribute is a concert, merely, and very little time can be allowed me, ---only enough to play perhaps half a dozen Indian songs. I wish Francis would sing them and let me play an accompaniment;won't he?There will be no time for any but the briefest remarks; just a word or two.

When are you coming to Chicago, I want to see you as soon as circumstances will permit.

Remember me most cordially to Miss Gay and to Francis.

Yours as ever,
.C.Fillmore.
