My version,so far it goes, has tovary a bit from the literal, for the sake of the rhyme, etc. The word 'county'for Count was used by Scott in his once popular song(from 'Quentin Durward'),
       Ah,County Guy,the hour is nigh,
The sun has left the lea,
Amid the leaves the moonbeam weaves
       A serenade for thee,etc.

I believe the other and much larger collection of French songs,in the Harvard Library was got together for the ministry of Education in France;but I am going to the Library again tomorrow, and I will examine the work again, and write a P.S.to this letter giving the exact facts, and what else I can learn of the collection for instance,if it has been published, etc.Rolland's book is one of several of a like character;it contains a few Italian,Spanish, and Scotch songs.I took it out because it gives the music of the air with each song.
I shall wish to learn the origin of the flag, when you find out to your satisfaction.
                              yours truly,
