[[preprinted]] Pomona College C.G. BALDWIN PRESIDENT E.C. NORTON DEAN J.C. FILLMORE, DIRECTOR OF THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC Claremont Cal. ^[[May 19]] 189 ^[[8]] [[/preprinted]] Dear Miss Fletcher: By this time you have met Mr. Moon & told him our plans, or rather yours, for you are the real boss of that Indian Day. I don't think the Sunday Civil bill is passed yet, so I suppose you are still in doubt as to the Indian Congress is promises[?] detailed? Our new President, Rev. Frank L. Ferguson of Boston, is a hustler! He has raised $90000 in six months & has got Pomona College out of debt & on its feet. I told him the other day I intended to go to the first institution which will[?] give me the chance to do this ethnological work, but would just as soon do it for P.C. as for any college. He talked it over & took it into consideration. It may be that he knows the Boston lady you are on the trail of & could get her scalp. Would you mind giving me her name & letting me give it to him? He has gone back to Boston now, but expects to be here again at Commencement. - Mrs. F. Sen Con.[?] Yours most cordially, J.C. Fillmore.
