Hawthorne Inn.
East Gloucester, Mass.
July 21st 1898

My dear Miss Fletcher:

I am in receipt of yours of the 15th [[underlined]] inst. [[/underlined]] and I am glad to learn that you have been thinking thoughts which have occurred to me also.

I agree with you that the subject of the Earth-lodge is worthy of extensive treatment and that we would do well to write a joint treatise on the subject at some future time, treating of construction, mythology, ceremony, evolution, distribution in historic times, archaelogy, the lodge in art, the lodge in literature, etc.

My present paper is devoted to "The Earth-lodge in Art," and I have limited it in time to 25 minutes. Perhaps I can read it in 20 if the slides work well
