Dear Miss Fletcher,

I now send you a hasty line, only, to tell you that I have received your very valuable letter of the 28th and, by express, the package of slides which will be valuable additions to my illustrations. It is evident from these that the Mandan lodges, as usually made, differed from those of the Omahas in being flat on top. The Omaha roof is pointed. Do you know if they were always pointed? Of course the Mandans sometimes made pointed roofs, but the usual [[page torn]] of the [[page torn]] section was like this.
