Oct. 4 1898.

Dear Friend,

Mother did not return from her trip Saturday as expected. Heard this A.M. she had come so went up early & have just returned home & will just have time to catch 5 o'clock train.

In order to make it clear to us mother went out and got sticks and fixed them in the ground so we could write answers understandly. Sue, helped me very much, I did not like to attempt it alone, for fear I might not get it just right. We answered questions as well as we could, Hope out of what I send, you will find what you want.
