Gentlemen:

I take pleasure in introducing to you Miss Alice C. Fletcher of this city, with whose work in Indian ethnology you are doubtless familiar.  She is desirous of prosecuting her studies of Indian customs and religious observances among the Indians of you agencies and I will be lad to have you give er any facilities in the prosecution of her work which you can render without detriment to the public service. 

Miss Fletcher holds a fellowship in Harvard University in connection with which her scientific work is carried on.  She is also at all times deeply interested in the progress of the Indian in education and civilization and will make her visit helpful to the Indians under your charge while she is collecting materials for scientific use.  

She also holds a commission from this Bureau as allotting agent though she is not now actively employed in that work.
