Miss Alice C. Fletcher,

My Friend, I wrote you yesterday and told you what I had to do with the old man and how I had been looked upon - I hope you will not take to heart what I said - the reason I did was I am afraid Scout is going to be harder to get for he believes that the ceremonies would have to be given during February when Thunders have been heard = or when the 4 Gods in the West have spoken to the world of the change that was about to take place. New Life to take place in all animal life and the trees and grass- The right time for the Sacred bundles to be opened - Now he has but one day to do it in and not offend the Gods and this he knows. I saw him today ad talked with him and he tells me that he was willing to do work [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] but must get good price. Could you fix to give him in a lump? He may be [[strikethrough]] sta [[/strikethrough]] satisfied paying him in this way. Hope you got home alright and that you found the others well. Write me soon-
I am Your Friend
