Dear Sir:

The Department of Ethnology and Archaeology of the Pan-American Exposition will be open, within reasonable limitations as to space, to exhibits loaned by private collectors. So far as possible, it is desired that all exhibits shall be classified, either according to locality, or as illustrative of some special phase of Indian life. A large miscellaneous display of unlocated relics is not desired. Modern relics will be accepted provide they are the work of races living in an approximately independent manner and retaining their aboriginal customs.

While the purpose of this Department is purely scientific and educational, there will be no objection to the display of a small card in each case, stating the name and address of the exhibitor, and, if desired, the fact that these or other relics are for sale.

Very truly yours,

Supt. of Ethnology & Archaeology.
