My Friend, your letter came to me yesterday, and the old man happened to be in. He asked about you and said "Tell my sister, the grass is starting to grow, and I will soon set down in the lodge amid my Buffalo Skull and [[strikethrough]]have[[strikethrough]] do some thinking, talk and sing". Tell her, "that "I am well, The gods have been good to me and my children. My daughter was very sick and she is now well." I was very sorry that I did not call upon you before leaving. Eagle Chief and [[Matlock? Matluek?]]had it up and down for strolling upon the streets so ^we had to stay pretty close to him. I tried to get Eagle to go up to your place but he would not go.

Do not hesitate to send me any stuff you ^may want me to look over and I will go over the stuff and send them back to you. Send in care Pawnee Nat'l Bank as I now make
