October 14, 1911.

Dear Sir:
I am in receipt of your letter regarding the use I have made of Miss Fletcher's Mss., on the "Omaha Tribe." When I quoted Miss Fletcher's Mss., it had been my first intention, quite naturally, not to do so without the proper authorization of the Bureau and Miss Fletcher, but I felt more than confident that her volume would appear in print long before my thesis. My thesis was written more than a year ago, but the editor of the Folklore Journal told me that it would not appear in print before Oct. 1911. For that reason, I thought that Miss Fletcher's volume would be published long before my work. If I have committed any error, therefor I feel that it is only an error of judgment.
With regard to Miss Fletcher's statement that I have misquoted her I feel that I cannot say anything until I see the passages to which she refers.
Yours respectfully,
(signed) Paul Radin.
