My beloved Alice

Since your dear letter came I have been a prisoner here and Mabel has had so many cares I have not liked to ask her to reply to any but business letters. I've been here two weeks & now that that miserable fever has abated I leave to-day and as my pen is packed I have to use a pencil or not write at all.

No more now dearly beloved. I thank you for all you say about A Sunny Life.

Your devoted
