My dear Miss Fletcher

I hope by this you are gaining strength again. & that early or mid September at latest I may have the pleasure of calling on you, & having another conference.

I am up here to forget, to let go, to recover poise, & perspective. I have succeeded I believe in that already & expect to settle to work on a book of symbolic devotion with our Flag for subject.

When that is done - I have only roughed it out - I am going to turn back to my favorite [[underlined]] sport [[/underlined]], observing & recreating aboriginal religions revelations. I feel as if our Christianity after the war needed a new expression, & there seems no better trail for us than - back to our continental predecessors
