January 1 1919.

Dear Miss Fletcher:

I have your letter of December 26, in regard to the correspondence of Dr. Guthrie with the Government Printing Office. Inquiry has twice been made in regard to his letter since yours was received. Authorities there stated that the matter was being looked up, and as soon as possible we would be notified of the action in the matter. It seems that either due to war work or the holidays there is some congestion in the office of the Superintendent of Documents where the publications are sold, and that may be the explanation of the delay in answering your correspondent.

Very truly yours,

Chief.
