The Missionary Society of the Methodist Church has paid out, directly from its treasury, for work among the Indians, during the last 33 years, $215,870, making an average of about $6,420 per annum. This does not include local contributions and expenditures. The money for 1885 was distributed among missions with the following tribes: St. Regis, Onondaga, and the Oneidas of New York and Wisconsin. Chippewas and Ottowas of Michigan, Blackfeet of Montana, Klamath of Oregon, Yakamas of Washington Territory, and the Indians of Puget Sound.

It is a fact, and one to be regretted, that, during the past of score or more years, the Methodist Church has not been as active in the Indian field of Mission work as in days gone by, but, with the added interest of the Woman's branch for Home work, the old order will return, and the fields that stand ready for the harvesters, will soon ring with the echos of the songs of those
