came to his aid and now the medical career of this brave fellow is assured and the way open for him to become an instrument for good to his people.

I could give you many instances of young Indian men and women who have desired to secure a higher education, and among the many I have been instrumental in helping none have proved unworthy of their chance. Unfortunately I have been able to assist but a small per.cent of those who have applied to me and I am often haunted by the faces of those whom I have been forced to leave to their discouragement because I had not the money to give them a chance to rise above their limited surroundings and acquire the power to enter upon a broader and more useful life. Not a week passes when I am on a reservation that I do not receive requests from young men to help them to study medicine, law, surveying, bookkeeping, or some other branch of learning.

The need of higher education is felt and the Indian youth are ready and waiting the opportunity to fit themselves for the new life they crave. A life that will accord with the ambitions they feel.
