moving the church off the Langford claim.  It seems that the people have been stirred up by false statements, that their church has to be formed from the place where it stands in the Langford claim & that removal would be the inauguration of the moving of all their houses off that [[strikethrough]] land [[/strikethrough]] claim which covers the Lapwai Valley from this school reservation & on to the mouth of the Lapwai.  I said I know of no such intention.  The Agent admitted that there had been misunderstandings and that he perhaps had not been [[strikethrough]] not [[/strikethrough]] clear about moving the church.  I then asked him to present the proposal to set apart 20 acres for church & mission purposes to the Council adding "The matter may as well be settled now as any other time".  He then stated that the Gov't had nothing to do about taking the church off the Langford claim and he then quoted the office letter that the 20 acres was to be set aside "with their consent".  When he finished there were many "Ayes" heard, then a few of the Indians spoke in favor of [[strikethrough]] it [[/strikethrough]] setting apart the 20 acres and not one word of opposition was uttered.  I have reported this action in my account of the Council in a letter written May 9.  The Indians all consider the matter settled.

Now for a question.  A white Minister is coming
