By the end of February Professor Putnam will have completed fifty years of service here at Cambridge. It seems fitting therefore that his students, both past and present, should each have a share in the celebration of this event.

In accordance with this idea, it is planned to present a small memorial volume to which each of his pupils shall contribute a brief expression of good will. Will you therefore kindly write on the enclosed card such a sentiment together with your autograph.

Owing to the shortness of time at our disposal, the favor of an immediate reply is requested.
