My dear Mr. Davis,

Yours of March rec'd.  I am much obliged for the figures [[strikethrough]] which [[/strikethrough]] you [[strikethrough]] give as to [[/strikethrough]] send showing the [[strikethrough]] work which can be [[/strikethrough]] price lands can be rented for grazing or farming.  I know [[strikethrough]] personally [[/strikethrough]] of no [strikethrough]] lands [[/strikethrough]] leased [[strikethrough]] for farming: and [[/strikethrough]] farms in the vicinity of the Omaha Res.  I had not knowledge of rates paid.  As to the prices [[strikethrough]] paid [[/strikethrough]] for grazing lands, I do not recall [[strikethrough]] them.  What [[/strikethrough]] the terms.  I did know a few years since.  [[?]] to the fact,that the Bill granting the land to the Omahas was supposed to preclude leasing.  I did [[strikethrough]] not concern myself [[/strikethrough]] not burden my memory with the figures.  As to the business plan which grew out of the fact that the Indians were unable to lease their lands, I cannot state the exact figures, nor give you a detailed statement of what proportions of the proceeds are divided among the Indians, or those having direct charge of the [[strikethrough]] Indians [[/strikethrough]] business.  I read the Agreement over but once, and it did not at the time strike me as giving an undue advantage to any one or any group concerned in it.  [[strikethrough]] It was preprepared.
