Copy of Allotment of Land. Jos. La Flesche No. 225 ( ^[[handdrawn circle]] red & gold Seal ) Department of the Interior Office of Indian Affairs March 17, 1871. This is to certify that Joseph La Flesche a member of the Omaha Tribe of Indians having expressed a desire to adopt habits of settled industry, and to claim an allotment of land for the purpose of cultivation, as provided for in the 4th Article of the treaty with said tribe, concluded March 6, 1855, is Entitled to 160 acres of land, and that he has selected for such purposes the S.W. 1/4 of Section 12 in Township 25. North of Range 9 East of the 6th principal Meridian in Nebraska containing 160 acres. The said Allottee is entitled to & may take [[strikethrough]] possession [[/strikethrough]] immediate possession of said land and occupy the same, and the United States guarantees such
