We desire to express to the friends of the Omaha tribe that they have been misinformed as to the condition of the Omaha people.  We are [[strikethrough]] slowly [[/strikethrough]] advancing steadily.  Every year we increase our farms breaking new lands, farming larger crops, & so getting more money by which we can supply ourselves & our families with better means of living.

[[strikethrough]] We do not wish to have any one to [[/strikethrough]] We wish you to know that we did not authorize Mr. Tibbles to come East to represent us and our interests.  We did give him any papers of authority.  We do not wish to lease our lands.  We have use for our land & and propose to use them by farming and grazing.  We have entered into a business partnership by which last year we realized $700 through reaping machines.  We expect to make more money this coming year because the Comm'r has promised to remove the men who are illegally on our lands heading & who gave us [[?work]]
