Hon. Commissioner of Indian Affairs

Sir:

We are informed that three Omaha, Daniel Webster, William Tyndall and Paninupazhi have gone to Washington and we wish to say that these three men have gone without the knowledge or consent of that portion of the tribe known as the progressive or citizens party. There are certain matters connected with the business affairs of the tribe which [[strikethrough]] are in need of [[/strikethrough]] require legislative action.

[[strikethrough]] We are in [[/strikethrough]] Among these is our need of having all our payments made in cash and we had thought that all the tribe were of one mind upon this point. They had said so. but when we met together to talk over the means by which to accomplish this end some of the men were afraid to ask [[strikethrough]] for [[/strikethrough]]
