it is to her that we owe the framing of the petition and the collection of the statistics mentioned in my letter. Miss Fletcher went from here a few days since, first to visit parties in Nebraska interested in this question and then to make her way to New York and thence to Washington for the sole purpose of winning this point for the Indians. She is a talented woman, armed at all points with facts and figures and can be of use to you. She can talk with effect any place, before committees, on the the floor of Congress, to members of the Cabinet or President. She is no lobbyist and knows nothing of Political methods, and is very anxious to find someone to direct her efforts. She will not disgrace you if you use her.

Very truly yours
