From the opinion of the Assistant Attorney General it would appear that a new allotment will cancel the old, and that "the surrender of the old patent would be a useless, though a harmless thing."

In order that the record, may be complete, however, you will have the relinquishments endorsed upon the patents where praticable, in accordance with previous instructions.
