I have repeatedly warned both these families that their right to allotment not being settled they should not attempt any settlement on the land as they are likely to lose their work.  They had never lived with the tribe, nor laid claim to Indian Hood, at least Nez Perce blood until about the time of the [[strikethrough]] [[par?]] [[/strikethrough]] Allotment Act, when the Nez Perce tribe were designated for allotment, they then picked out land of the best on the reservation and have maintained their determination to hold it to the present time.  Mr Holt has put up a small box house,and a corral, he raises stock on the reservation I am informed.  Mr Cox has built a box house and enclosed from 60 to 80 acres.  I am told that the wire was furnished him by the Agent.  I have never asked the Agent if he had done so, as I can seldom see him, he is away so often.
