Ft. Lapwai Idaho.
Aug 13. 1

Rev. Father Saer.
Sir:

Will you kindly inform the people at the Mission that the Surveyor will cross Craigs Mt. next week. and that all those who take land at Cold Spring, Mason's Butte and beyond must look after their allotments there. If the Indians when they go up will take with them provisions so as to be able to camp a few days or a week, the work can be done rapidly and then they will be free to go to the Mountains, as far as the allotment work is concerned.

I must close the entire allotment this season, and it is therefore necessary to have the men attend to their land now. Those who are unable to cross the mountain should designate a friend to see their places run out.

Thanking you for your former courtesy.

Respectfully
