July 15 9

Mr. E. O'Neill

Dear Sir:
Your letter of the 10th and the two copies of the "notice", the Report of the House Comm. on Ind. Affairs & the decision of Justice Miller have all reached me.

You ask me to acknowledge service of the notice, that I am not at liberty to do, but I have sent the notice to the Hon. Commissioner of Indian Affairs, with a statement of the evidence you have furnished me, all of which is accruable to the Dept. in Washington, and I have made such a statement of the condition of the land, as will make it possible for the Dept. to act in the matter as it deems best.

I return with thanks the Document, Report No 68, & Justice Miller's decision, as I do not like to risk papers in my camp-life. I thank
