Nov. 1. 89.

Hon. Commissioner of Indian Affairs
Sir:

I would respectfully ask leave to return to Washington D.C. when the season become too far advanced for further work in the field, and I have accomplish all the indoor work possible, connected with the allotments which shall have been [[invoiced?]]. Just when this time will be, I cannot say, all will depend upon the weather. Work should be resumed early in the Spring. I should be back at the Agency not later than March 1st 1890. The best time for field work, & to catch the Indians is up to about July 15. after that. Smoke & that [[returnings?]] of the Indians to the Mountains are a serious drawback as this year's experience has shown.

Hoping for your approval to this request,
Yours respectfully
