Nez Perce Agency Idaho.
May 8, 1890.

Hon. Commis of Indian Affairs.
Sir:
In compliance with your request I herewith transmit a map of the grounds occupying the School at Fort Lapwai Idaho.

The Surveyor was not able for the lack of paper and drawing appliances to make a scale map of the entire Military Reservation. He has however designated the fields, showing their location and acreages at the [[?]] [[?]] school can be irrigated. The remainder of the 669.60 acres lies upon the hillsides where water comes to rest, this land serves as pasture except in a very dry season. The ^[[plat of the]] ground occupied by the buildings, marked "Plot 6" is in scale. Each building is numbered and its acre under the Military designation and also its present use. I also enclose a photograph taken, two years since, on the 6th of July, which gives a view of the grounds & buildings.

I have not stated the condition of these buildings as I did not understand that you wished me to in report. I will however venture to say that all but two are quite out of repair, and some are worthless.
