Kamiah Nez Perce
June 26 90

Hon. Commis of Indian Affairs
Sir:

Permit me to call your attention to a few facts concerning the two mail stations, known as Caldwell's and White's, west of Craigs Mt. in reference to their allotment as suggested in your letter of May 8, 1889 marked "Sec. 371.1890"

Caldwell's Station is near the head of Lapwai creek on the route between Pierce city and Weippe prairie east of the reservation and Lewiston. The mail carrier stops at this station Monday night on his way east and on Friday night on the return trip going west. A large part of the year the mail is carried on a pack horse at other times in a "hack", or spring wagon drawn by two horses. There are seldom any passengers, as the mining camp at Pierce city is small, and the settlers on Weippe ^[[prairie,]] some thirty-families, drive in their own wagons to Lewiston. The maximum number of houses to be accommodated in Caldwell's station is six, while two to four is the usual number.
