man among the Roman Catholic population which numbers about 400.  Webb and some others but not all those of his church, had their native villages on Salmon ^[[river]] and other points added to the United States by treaty with the entire tribe some years since, but I have not met with any evidence of governmental discrimination in the view of association between those Indians formerly living outside or within the present reservation lines, or on account of greed.  The relation between the Indian seems to be both kindly and harmonious.  It seems but just to facts to make this statement.

I would respectfully request an early reply to the above questions, and petition.  As I hope to reach that part of the reservation ^[[occupied by the R. C. Mission]] early in the Fall, and will need to know what to do for the Roman Catholic Mission church, in order to carry out as far as possible the wishes of those in charge of the work.
