pits, building a mound & placing in it a charred stick and post marked N. W. cor. N. P. R. In closing the Section [[?]] around this corner, there was no [[?]] made on the N. W. cor. of the res.; therefore the error does not lie with Thompson but in the office of the Surveyor General. Mr Briggs found the N. W. corner in the midst of the field patented to [[Follett?]]. The land here has been sold by Follett to Thos. L. Chapelle. This man was absent when Mr Briggs was at the corner, but he obtained the presence of his neighbors while he dug at the center of the mound and found the remains of the corner post and the charred stick as states in the field notes. These he reburied in the mound and placed upon it a stone. He did not disturb the 4 pits which were plainly discernable, deciding it prudent to leave them for future evidence. This corner corresponds to the field notes, being 17 chains in from the 25. mile cor., and 63. chs. W. from the 26 mile cor. thus making exactly one mile between the 26 & 23 mile cor.

It is thus clear that this, an error a part of the res. has been patented to Geo. N. Follett Jr. This land has been selected and allotted to an Indian, and I respectfully ask to be instructed concerning this allotment.

Respectfully
