Ft. Lapwai Idaho
June 16 1

Mr [[? ?]] Pinkham
Sir:

Your letter of June 7. reached me by the last mail.

Your daughter Louisa Pinkham has no right by birth to land on this reservation, her Indian mother was a Yakama, and you are white. I have her name down and at the next gathering of the tribe will offer it for adoption. After she is adopted she can then take land.

Johny Pinkham Brooks takes land because his father Abram. Brooks is a Nez Perce, that makes Johny half Nez Perce.

As to the mother of Nait White, I will find out whether she is Nez Perce, if she is not she must be adopted before she can hold her allotment.

The Cox family are not Nez Perce, are not adopted but refused by the tribe, and have no allotment. They are intruders on the reservation.

Respectfully
