My dear Francis

Your letter of Wednesday has just reached me, and is most welcome. I am very glad you are at Lucy's and that you are comfortable. I dread your going where you will encounter those which prey on the human creature for I know you will not sleep. I wish that those creatures could be exterminated. Don't stay any longer than you can help on acct. of these things, but why do I write — for you will be at R's when this reaches you.

I wish I could have seen the bee tree — I am glad you made the suggestions you did to Larry & I hope he will follow them.

None too soon did the Indians move in the securing of a lawyer, the sceme of the $10.000 is quite possible, and the matter might be so presented to the office that in the best of faith the matter would go thro. If the Inds. don't move themselves in the way you suggest then surely it would be as well to let the matter go by default.

I have a letter from Rebecca, & where she writes all is well at her home.
