I will only premise by saying that Mrs [[Horey?]] thought I might venture to ask you this favor. Mr La Flesche has written a little book, sketches of his school life & companions - on the Omaha reservation. He has called it by the name of the school gang to which he belonged "The Middle Five", & dedicated it to "The Unusual Boy." He says in his his preface it was not his intention to give a [[?]] story with a hero but to offer pictures of the school boys and their doings & that he is glad to be able to show the lads clad in a manner familiar to the white reader, not in paint and feathers, for the costume so often conceals the man within it.[[?]] he desires that these "little" unmitigated Indians" may be judged like any other boys, by what they say & do. the book therefore is a truthful picture of [[strikethrough]]the[[strikethrough]] school [[strikethrough]]life[[strikethrough]] days. &
