Mr Smalls letter is very helpful, and I shall ask him to write fully & freely  to you indicating all the points where the talk of the boys is "bookish", & where it falls from the proper standard.  You may recall that we spoke of this inequality in the boys talk, when we looked over this [[underlined]] Ms [[/underlined]], at the last.  It came about by the lack of consecutive work on the book & I thought we would go over it as a whole & connect these slips.  That should be done I think, but Mr Small will help by pointing out the bad breaks.  Is the copy you have accurate enough for you to work over the passages?  If not you had better ask the return of the [[underlined]] Ms [[/underlined]], C.O.D. to you in Washington.
