garden and that would help the people to be ambitious and to work on their farms. more persistently  I can understand the interest in the Indian life but I still think the fair will be better. for the Indian now is more of a show then anything else. & that is not good for his taking rank among the people as a citizen.
I note what you say about the prejudices against Mr. Keefe.  I regret it. for it seems to me that Keefe is really public spirited & helpful.  The office looks at every thing from a technical point of view, and acts, that are not wrong or injurious can be put in a false light and made to appear to be from a different motive or with a different purpose. from what they were really meant or what they really are.
