home.  It is very pretty to look upon.  I do not think you have ever seen anything of the kind.  We had a great heat one day. The sun shone brightly (an exception in England.)  We were all out on the lawn that is South of the dining-room, where the windows open on to the ground.  A bright rug was spread for our feet to rest upon.  Easy chairs to set upon, and then with the side of the house corner with purple clusters of clematis ^[[for a foreground prelude]] we listened to the Victor gramophone ^[[placed in the open window of the dining room]] giving us Wagner and other compositions.
