My dear Francis
Your letter of Sept. 24. has just come and is very very welcome.
I am so glad your rheumatism is better and that people are good
to you. You are making steady progress that is evidant. I am
glad you wrote Mr. Hodge for the extra proof to use. I wrote Mr. Gurley. I have written him twice but as yet have no word from him, nor do I know what about the book, whether it is ready for the binder or in what condition it is.

I am interested in all you are getting. You surprise me about
the tattooing. Have you a camera? Ought you not to have one?
If you can do so, make drawings of the designs on the women. Do
I understand that their feet and legs are tattooed?.

I don't think it would be safe for you to mail a letter to me
after Nov. 10. I shall not send any more checks out, will
deposit your dividends when I get home. God bless you & keep
you safely. M.
