My dear Francis

This mornings mail brings me a letter from Lounsbery & Co. in which it is stated "Homestake was quoted in Board at the close today 84½ - 87½. We have none on sale less than 86½ at which price we can sell you ten shares, net." I have just written saying I would mail a draft on New York for $865.00. I am now going down to get the draft and en it by registered mail to Lounsbery. This is $15 more than your check to me but I doubt if you can do better, for this price includes Lounsbery's commission. I want to have the certificate made out to me, and when it comes I will [[strikethrough]] have [[/strikethrough]] sign it and have it witnessed to state in case of my death you can have the stock at once transferred to your name.
