I am very glad to get your last summary, and I think I am beginning to see something, as to the relation between the Omaha & the Osage. I also think I can detect some reasons why separation took place.

It is quite clear to me that [[underlined]] 7 [[/underlined]] divisions have a meaning to the two tribes & I think to others of this stock as well. The seven Ninibaton of the Omaha, the Ponca have their seven, and evidently 7 is important to the Osage, their seven pipes etc. There is also the dual arrangement, but neither
